Sri Lanka is becoming a major spot for watching Whales and Dolphins. Dondra points on the south coast is the main port of whales watching in Sri Lanka during December to April as the whale’s migration path is just off Dondra point. During these months there is a very high chance of spotting the great sperm whales and Blue whales. Hikkaduwa, Galle, Unawatuna, Weligama, Mirissa and Tangalle are the primary destinations from which Dondra Point can be reached with Mirissa being the closet point. If you are lucky you may witness schools of dolphins which are very large, approximately hundreds dolphin at once. It is truly a magnificent sight to witness these brilliant and playful creatures as they swim alongside the boat.
